About Sherborne Qatar Senior School

A truly international school, with pupils from over 60 different nationalities, Sherborne  Senior School in Qatar is one of the highest performing premier independent British senior schools in the Middle East. Dedicated to knowing our pupils as individuals, our holistic approach to education ensures pastoral care has as much emphasis as academic excellence.

Our strength as a school is our high-quality pastoral care, excellent teachers, our extensive enrichment programme and our community, friendly and family-orientated culture.

Sherborne Senior School is one of Sherborne’s family of schools in Qatar. The Sherborne Qatar schools are fortunate to be able to draw upon and share in the experience of our historic and prestigious home school in England. We have much in common with Sherborne School; we are all dedicated to providing the best that British independent education can offer.

This is an exciting time to join Sherborne Senior School as we continue to expand following our move to a new state-of-the-art site in August 2021.

Qatar is a dynamic, ambitious and forward-thinking country. We want to nurture the same qualities and the key to this is encouraging our pupils to take responsibility for their own learning and for them to be active and reflective learners. We want to challenge our pupils and instill in them a passion for learning and betterment. “Education for life” is about developing reflective, adaptable and passionate lifelong learners.

Sherborne Senior School is committed to cultivating responsible and compassionate citizens. Schools should strive for the highest academic standards, but education should also be about pupils learning about themselves and the rest of society. We aim to foster confident, responsible and emotionally intelligent global citizens.

Across the Sherborne schools in Qatar, our mission is to cultivate: “Well educated, well rounded individuals who have high aspirations and achieve their potential, in a happy and nurturing school.”

At the heart of what we do are our core values of Respect, Honesty, Kindness, Perseverance, Responsibility and Teamwork.

We want these core values to become the essence of our school, reflecting what we live and work by. We share a similar ethos and values to our sister school Sherborne Dorset.

We want our pupils to become positive role models, to embrace positions of responsibility and to develop a range of interests. To this end, we encourage pupils to explore their interests and embrace the extracurricular activities on offer. All pupils have the desire to achieve if encouraged to do so and given the opportunities to do so.

Standards and expectations of work and behaviour are clear and high. We believe that pupils should be challenged, but not stressed.

We appreciate the importance of working closely with families; home and school share the responsibility for a child’s education and effective home school partnerships are based on mutual trust and respect. When schools and families work together, children have a far better chance of realising their full potential and being happy at school.

Most importantly Sherborne Senior School is a caring, inclusive, family-orientated and supportive school.
