Job overview

Required for September 2024

St Paul’s Way is an outstanding ‘Through School’ with a track record of innovation. Drawing extensively on academic research the school provides a unique curriculum experience.

Our award-winning building is situated in the heart of East London. Our exceptional links with QMUL, King’s College London, The University of Warwick, The UCL Institute of Education and the University of East London help shape an inspirational curriculum. We are seeking to appoint an outstanding and committed Teacher of Design and Technology.

Design and Technology is a popular element of the curriculum for all ages from Year 7 through to Year 11. The subject is a compulsory part of the Key Stage 3 experience, using a flexible programme that currently delivers core competencies in Product Design, CAD/CAM and Food Technology. The subject area enjoys excellent dedicated teaching bases comprising a well-equipped food and nutrition room, a graphics suite and a resistant materials workshop.

The candidate will need to be a specialist at KS4 in at least one subject from Food and Nutrition or Product Design and will teach all disciplines at KS3. The post would be suitable for an ECT or an experienced teacher looking to make an impact in a well-resourced and supportive Faculty.

This is an excellent career opportunity for a colleague who is passionate about the entitlement of young people to a rich and challenging Design and Technology curriculum. Working within a supportive and collaborative faculty, you will be an outstanding classroom teacher with a passionate commitment to the progress of all students in our heavily oversubscribed school. The successful candidate will have an unwavering belief in the potential of every student. They will do what it takes to ensure that students achieve their best and will have the contagious enthusiasm for the subject which excites and motivates students.

The culture of the Visual Arts and Design and Technology Faculty aims to support new and experienced teachers to thrive and be continuously developed. We have high expectations of all students to be taught the best powerful knowledge as defined by the subject community.

We believe all teaching should be evidence informed so teachers can focus on high impact methods in their practice. Planning of lessons are based on principles derived from cognitive science and distributed through the department to drive collaboration. The department delivers CPD weekly that focuses on making our subject knowledge strong with a focus on high quality teacher explanations. Using the best evidence available to develop our feedback policy, we focus on whole class feedback rather than written comments. The faculty aims for all teachers to have sensible workload with our curriculum and systems are continuously reviewed to ensure we are spending our time on the highest impact activities.

If you would like to play your part in delivering outstanding provision, whilst receiving the very best support to develop your career, then we would very much like to hear from you. You are also very welcome to visit the school and we would recommend it.

Please note we reserve the right to close this advert early.

Interviews will take place on a rolling basis

St Paul’s Way Trust School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS Check.
