Job overview

St John’s Marlborough is a key member of the highly effective Excalibur Academies Trust, and a rare opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic permanent, full-time teacher of Design and Technology to join a high achieving department. The successful candidate will be a passionate, creative, outstanding practitioner who is confident teaching across the ability range for all key stages. The ability to teach Art would be an advantage.

The D&T department is highly successful with a positive atmosphere, and you will need to be a strong team player with the ability to inspire, challenge and motivate. At Key Stage 3 all students study D&T, Food and Textiles. GCSE are offered in D&T (focusing on Wood, Metal and Plastic), Food Preparation and Nutrition, Art and Design Graphics and Textiles and we offer A Level D&T Product Design, A level Fashion & Textiles and Level 3 Food Science and Nutrition. The department is well equipped with both traditional tools and machinery, and laser cutter and 3D printers. We are looking for a candidate with experience of, and an enthusiasm for, teaching D&T (focusing on Wood, Metal and Plastic), but some flexibility is expected within the department. We enjoy expanding our skills and learning from each other.

Being part of the Excalibur Academies Trust means we offer a very well thought through package of support and development, which includes a wide variety of opportunities for you to take your career in any number of directions. Our CPD offer is an area of excellence and ensures a very clear focus on the development and well-being of all our staff and students.

The Academy is judged as Outstanding in all areas and is a Leading Challenge Partners school having exceptional facilities in a state-of-the-art teaching environment.

This is a great opportunity to join a thriving and forward-thinking school. If you would like to visit before making an application, please do get in touch as we would love to see you and are more than happy to discuss any aspects of the position which you may have queries about.
