The WMG Academy Trust Board seek to appoint motivated, dedicated and aspirational Teacher of Design, Technology and Engineering at WMG Academy for Young Engineers Solihull.

Energetic? Innovative? Passionate? Work with us and our partners (University of Warwick, Jaguar Land Rover, National Grid and many more) to deliver a skills-based curriculum in a high achieving environment. 

The WMG Academy Trust opened its first academy in Coventry on Monday 8th September 2014 for up to 640 students aged 14 - 19. The second academy in North Solihull opened in September 2016 for two year groups, 10 and 12, and doubled in size in September 2017. 

We welcome applications from candidates who can offer expertise in product design or any related technology and engineering discipline, who love their subject, are passionate about education and through a flexible, ‘problem solving’ approach wants to deliver outstanding outcomes for all learners.

This post is suitable for NQT’s. Full support and training will be provided through your NQT year.

The Academy offers a range of Design, Technology and Engineering courses:-

  • Design Technology (Product Design)
  • A Level Product Design
  • Level 2 Engineering qualifications (Cambridge Nationals)
  • Smaller Level 3 Engineering qualifications (Cambridge Technicals)
  • Larger Level 3 Engineering qualifications (BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma)

You will be a key member of the WMG Academy Solihull team, delivering outstanding teaching across KS4 and KS5. You will have experience of working in a school or college setting as well as a good understanding of the needs of 14-19 year old students. 

The key academic sponsor of the Academy is the University of Warwick.  The Solihull Academy is located adjacent to Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre in North Solihull and boasts over £2 million of specialist equipment and ICT. Our relationship with a broad range of local, national and international 

business partners will allow the successful candidate to link their teaching to an applied, employment-led educational environment.

WMG Academy for Young Engineers Solihull is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school with a sixth form in the West Midlands, serving students from the age of 14-18. The secondary school, situated in Solihull is a University Technical College (UTC), led by businesses and a university.  Partners at WMG Academy for Young Engineers Solihull include The University of Warwick, WMG, National Grid, Rolls Royce and Jaguar Land Rover.

WMG Academy for Young Engineers Solihull opened in 2016. There is also another WMG Academy in Coventry, which opened in 2014. The Academy has purpose-built learning facilities, including dedicated engineering equipment and professional working spaces substituting classrooms.

Students are offered a wide range of enrichment activities to gain additional skills and enhance their time at the Academy.
