Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic teacher to join our close-knit, supportive and high-performing team. Applicants should be able to teach Design Technology to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 GCSE. The Design Technology Department has a track record of achieving strong GCSE results with good uptake as an ‘option’ in Year 10. The Head of Department and Assistant Head of Department are typical of the very strong curricular leadership that is apparent across our school and they lead a department in which ideas, creativity and hard work are fundamental values. We welcome applications from both NQTs and experienced teachers alike and visits to the school can be made through prior arrangement.
A full-time permanent Teacher of Design Technology. The ability to teach Resistant Materials, Product Design and Systems Control will be beneficial. It would also be helpful if the successful candidate has knowledge of using CAD software and CAD/CAM machine tools.
The Elton High School is a significantly oversubscribed school with a tradition of excellence. We have a history of high achievement with results regularly placing us as the highest performing school in Bury LA and amongst the top proportion of schools in the country.
Our most recent Ofsted inspection (February 2017) was a fair and accurate analysis of the fantastic progress made by the school in the past couple of years. The inspection team noted that there is "a culture of high expectations" across the school with "high quality training" enabling teachers to provide top quality lessons as a matter of routine, with staff "focused on improving outcomes for all pupils". The inspectors were particularly impressed with the climate for learning and behaviour of our students, describing Elton as "an orderly and calm place to learn" with students who "enjoy coming to school", are "proud of their school" and are "confident in their learning".
This is a full time position on the teacher’s pay spine currently between £25,714-£41,604.
Five years ago, in September 2016, we moved into a brand-new school building – the first new secondary school building in Bury for many decades. This further reinforces the excitement surrounding our school community. We are oversubscribed on an annual basis with over twice the number of applications to the available student limit for each Year 7 intake.
The progress that has been made across the school is not through chance or by accident but is due to a relentless focus on teaching and learning, while developing the talents of an outstanding team of staff.

About The Elton High School
The Elton High School is a co-educational community secondary school based in Bury, Lancashire, for students aged 11-16. It is a non-denominational school that accommodates approximately 1,000 students in a new building opened in September 2016.
The Elton High School serves the local catchment area of Walshaw/Elton/North Bury and is heavily oversubscribed. It has a stable roll with an annual admission number of 200.
