Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a professional and talented Teacher of Design Technology. We would welcome applications from specialists in Product Design, Engineering or Textiles. NQTs are also welcome to apply.

We seek an enthusiastic, committed and forward looking professional who can contribute to the growth of this important subject area. Applicants will need to demonstrate the ability to be an effective team member, they will show how they have or will contribute strategies and resources to support this growing department and will show a thorough commitment to student learning.

The Academy has recently been judged as ‘Good’ by Ofsted and is now working towards becoming ‘Outstanding’. Our GCSE results in 2017 put us amongst the fastest improving schools in the country. Outcomes in Design Technology have improved significantly with further improvements confidently predicted this year. The Design Technology team are committed and hard-working, and have created a department which is thriving, innovative and achieves excellent student outcomes.

The Academy is based in Carlisle, and is housed within a new building with state-of-the-art facilities. We have a strong team ethos with a focus on excellent teaching and learning working on whole school strategies to drive up standards.

Located a short drive from Carlisle city centre, Morton Academy is a rapidly growing 11-16 school, with a shared sixth form located at the site of its sister academy, Central Academy, with whom it works very closely.
