Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-qualified, highly motivated candidate who can teach to all ages and abilities within KS3 and KS4, with the possibility of KS5 for the correct candidate, who will become a valued member of a highly successful, supportive and professional team.

We would be open to someone at the start of their teaching career, who is dynamic, eager, and willing to share up to date pedagogies, or equally someone with more years’ teaching practice, who would be able to bring a wealth of experience and expertise into the department.

The ideal candidate would be someone who is keen to keep their subject and pedagogical knowledge up to date, and whose passion for the subject is shown in both their teaching and their discussions with colleagues. The position also includes the role of form tutor, where the tutor is expected to deliver a core tutorial programme to their form. They will also be integrated into our house system – where the seven houses help to create a support network and opportunity for rewards and active participation in a range of activities for the students.

Vision and Aims

The Thomas Adams School Vision is that all students, whatever their circumstances, achieve their potential and are ready to contribute fully to their families, community and society.

This is not to be defined in terms of just examination success, although this is obviously vital, but includes achievement in all other areas including the ability to continue learning, solve problems, develop resilience and be active, informed citizens, prepared for life in modern-day Britain.

We must ensure that the school embraces an achievement culture with a shared vision. Every aspect of the school has to reflect the very best practice, with rigorous systems, attention to detail and a high degree of personalisation.

Ofsted report

“Teachers and teaching assistants work together effectively and the help they give is matched well to the accurate assessment they make of students’ learning needs. This ensures that all abilities, including disabled students and those who have special educational needs and the most able, make good progress in all subjects.”
