Job overview

The Creatives Department at Scarborough Sixth Form College, currently consists of 8 teachers (full and part time), including the Head of Department, and two technicians. The staff have a high level of expertise and experience, and work together as a team in developing and sharing resources.

The department offers an attractive study environment and is well-equipped with access to PCs in all the teaching rooms. The department uses industry standard software plus two editing suites, green screen room, a plethora of recording equipment as well as the support of a highly qualified technician.

The department is committed to achieving the highest academic standards. Support for students is central to the departmental philosophy. This is a friendly team of highly capable teachers who share a strong commitment to supporting students. Within the team there is an emphasis on developing and sharing pedagogic methods to best deal with the diverse range of aptitudes and needs of our students.

In the Digital Media element of the department, we currently offer CTEC Diploma in Digital Media, CTEC Certificate in Digital Media and Level 2 Award in Digital Media.

Alongside teaching Digital Media, this role requires you to lead on our exciting new e-Sports qualification; providing innovative and creative lessons to a diverse group of students that ultimately share the same passion.

The successful candidate will be able to teach, motivate and engage students from a range of different abilities. They will be a dedicated and forward-thinking person who can contribute to the growth and development of this subject area and be willing to make a full contribution to the department and wider college.


The contract will be on a full time, permanent basis commencing September 2023

Please note, all teaching staff are expected to attend College for student enrolment and staff training from Tuesday 29th August 2023. These days are part of the 195 days contractual commitment for 2023/2024 academic year and are compensated for by an early finish to summer term 2024.

Salary payments are made monthly by credit transfer in arrears on the last business bank day of the month. You will be eligible to join the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.

College Overview

Scarborough Sixth Form College is an open-access College, which provides general education primarily for 16-19 year olds in the area. The majority of our 1000+ students are full-time, and follow Advanced (level 3) courses from which most progress onto Higher Education.  The College has developed a very successful vocationally-related provision in a range of BTEC Nationals and we also offer a one-year Level 2 programme (our “Progression Year”) consisting of GCSEs in Maths, English and Science plus a range of BTEC Firsts.  Achievement at the College is high, and above national benchmarks, with outstanding positive value-added overall.  The College had an Inspection in December 2019 and was confirmed as a Good provider. 

The College provides a pleasant environment in which to work, being set in attractive grounds on the edge of town. College campus facilities have been enhanced by almost £5 million investment. Scarborough itself offers an attractive coastline and beaches and is situated on the edge of the North York Moors, within easy reach of the City of York.
