Job overview

Are you a drama teacher, innovator and revolutionary with a passion to ignite a lifelong love of Performing Arts in children of all ages? Frensham Heights has a rare opportunity to recruit a Teacher of Drama & Dance to join our unique and progressive community.

We are a progressive school, redefining traditional education and fostering a vibrant community of learners. The non-uniform and first name culture is the tip of the iceberg of the Frensham experience. We are a ‘Rights Respecting’ school with an unrivalled passion and reputation for the Performing and Creative Arts. We seek a visionary teacher of Drama & Dance to join our dynamic department, from the playful explorations of our youngest dramatists, to the electrifying performances of our senior school and sixth form.

This is not your average teaching role. You will shape a curriculum that ignites curiosity, fosters collaboration, and pushes boundaries. The Performing Arts facilities are second to none, including a 306 capacity theatre, purpose-built drama & dance studios, a recital room and generous classroom and practice room spaces. The successful applicant will have unrivalled drive to pioneer performance experiences for our students and be an optimistic mentor and cheerleader; nurturing young talent and celebrating their unique abilities and interests.

If you are ready to:

  • Spark creative curiosity with students across our community (ages 3-18 years)
  • Deliver an innovative, age-appropriate curriculum including GCSE & A level Drama with Dance to Key Stage 3
  • Lead an annual full-scale production in the Aldridge Theatre, with support from our in-house technicians
  • Orchestrate unforgettable Performing Arts experiences, concerts and performances

We would like to hear from you! For any preliminary questions, please contact our Director of Performing Arts (Kat Pinnell), who will be happy to arrange an informal chat.

We reserve the right to appoint before the closing date

Frensham Heights is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Applicants must undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure & Barring Service.

Independent Schools Inspectorate

“Pupils’ attitudes to learning are almost always positive, and in many cases, extremely so. Pupils are attentive to their teachers and to each other, as they respond to teachers’ questions or take part in classroom debates. By the time they leave the school, almost all pupils gain qualifications and skills which show that they are well prepared for the next stage of their education and for their future careers”.
