The Head of Year plays a crucial role in creating a culture in which the students in their year group recognise the importance of ambition, critical thought, effort and kindness. In setting the tone for a cohort, and co-ordinating targeted interventions, the Head of Year has the ability to have an impact at a whole-school and individual level. In the Sixth Form, the Head of Year plays a vital role in supporting students to maximise their potential so that they can progress to ambitious destinations.

The Head of Year’s work with tutors is pivotal in our attempts to know and understand each of the young people we work with, and their work with Heads of Faculty and Subject Leaders is key to ensuring students make outstanding academic progress. Their interaction with parents and carers strengthens the home-school relationship and communication with external agencies helps build the team around our most vulnerable children.
