I am immensely excited to have been appointed as the Principal of the Stephen Perse Foundation and am really looking forward to leading the Foundation in the years ahead. I am excited because all of the evidence I have seen tells me that the Foundation is superbly well placed, both to meet the challenges, and to seize the opportunities, presented by its future as a leader in modern independent education.

Responsible to: Curriculum Leader of Drama & Theatre

Location: Senior School/Sixth Form, Cambridge

Role Description: 

We are a dynamic and vibrant department, committed to engaging and inspiring students through a creative and flexible programme of classroom and extra curricular Drama and Theatre. We run a full programme of clubs, productions and performances and every year group is invited to participate in at least one full scale production each year: we operate an inclusive policy and we guarantee to cast every student who auditions.

Each member of the department takes responsibility for directing one or two productions a year and we all assist each other by taking on supportive roles behind the scenes for other productions. The department also runs a full programme of tech and backstage clubs and enrichment options for students who are interested in taking part behind the scenes. We aim to involve students in all areas of making theatre and to help them develop specific areas of interest, such as choreography, directing or design. We sincerely believe that the process of creating a piece of performance for an audience is as important as the end result: encouraging teamwork, collaboration, creativity and commitment.
