We are seeking to appoint, from September 2020, an inspiring, committed and enthusiastic Teacher of Drama. The successful candidate will be an outstanding teacher, passionate about their subject, and must be willing to contribute to the wider life of the school.
The Creative and Performing Arts Faculty at Bury Grammar School is a thriving team of eleven members of staff. We are committed to enabling our students to benefit from the very best standards of teaching and are proud of our departmental culture of collaboration. The departments in the faculty are Art and Design, Drama, Music, Design and Technology and Food. We provide a wide range of opportunities within the faculty to encourage our students to maximise their potential and thus promoting a sense of challenge, curiosity and risk taking in an inspirational and supportive environment.
Drama and Theatre Studies is a successful and thriving department at Bury Grammar School. We hold a strong reputation for outstanding results and enrichment opportunities on offer to our pupils.
Drama is taught to all pupils at KS3 and is an increasingly popular option subject at KS4 where we follow the EDUQAS GCSE Drama specification. At KS5, our sixth-form students follow AQA A-Level Drama & Theatre.
We have excellent facilities to support teaching and learning with two Drama studios and two theatre spaces both equipped with a professional lighting and sound system. This enables our students to develop their skills not only in performance but also technical theatre design in a professional environment.
As part of the Creative and Performing Arts faculty, Drama is part of a committed and dedicated team who are ambitious for all students to develop a love of the arts. Our annual whole-school production, in collaboration with the other departments in the faculty, is truly a highlight of the year involving over 150 pupils an attracting sell-out audience. Further to this, the Drama department offers an exciting enrichment programme ranging from National Theatre Connections festival, to theatre visits, clubs and workshops from visiting theatre professionals.
