Job Description
We are looking for an outstanding, inspirational and passionate Teacher of Drama to join our highly experienced team within our Expressive Arts Faculty. Broughton High School is a popular, comprehensive school with high aspirations for its very diverse population. As a valued member of our staff, you will have enthusiasm and the ability to plan flexible programmes of learning within your subject area which meet the specific needs of all learners. A desire to contribute to the support of young people through our universal support programme is also required.

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.

About Broughton High School

Broughton High School is a co-educational school based in Edinburgh for students aged 11-18. It is a non-denominational school.

The school was officially opened in 1905. The school song is called “Broughton for Ever” and was written and composed in 1917. It was dedicated to the memory of the teachers, students and pupils who died for their country at war. The school badge was designed in 1924. The motto “fortiter et recte” means “bravely and uprightly”.

The school has a huge tradition of creating pupil-led school magazines. In the school library, there are copies of the Broughton School Magazine going back to 1911.

The school also has a recently-built state of the art building. completed in 2009.

Broughton High School aims for all members of its learning community to share responsibility for each other.
