The school opened in September 2011 and quickly established itself as a dynamic and exciting place for children to learn. We are therefore inviting applications from suitably qualified and enthusiastic Secondary Drama Teachers to join our outstanding Performing Arts Department from August 2024. 

Applicants for the position should:

  • have knowledge, experience and a passion for teaching Drama at Key Stage 3, IGCSE and A-Level (or equivalent)
  • have a passion for the Performing Arts and experience of leading performances and productions 
  • be an excellent classroom practitioner who sets high expectations for students
  • have excellent communication skills to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team 
  • possess humour, energy and the ability and willingness to go above and beyond, positively contributing to the development of our school.
  • exhibit competency in the use of educational technologies
  • be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 (this is a requirement of the Ministry of Education)

General Responsibilities:

  • The teaching of Drama to students who are predominantly in the age range 11-18 years. (A willingness to teach some Upper Primary would be desirable but not essential)
  • Managing an effective, orderly and safe learning environment.
  • Motivating children to be passionate about Drama and Performing Arts.
  • Developing formulated schemes of work.
  • Keeping detailed records of progress of individual students.
  • Differentiating class work as necessary to meet the differing ability needs of all children.
  • Reporting to parents in accordance with the agreed guidelines.
  • Arranging regular Drama performances in school assemblies, etc.
  • Working as part of a team with other members of the Performing Arts Department to arrange end of term and end of year performances to a high standard.
  • Liaising with the Student Support Team with regard to individual students who may have exceptional needs, to ensure that those needs are understood, planned for and met.
  • Attending and contributing to meetings of a professional nature as and when required.
  • Contributing to the strengthening of the parent-teacher partnership in individual and whole school initiatives as and when required.
  • Developing cross-curricular links and providing opportunities for students to develop and apply their Drama skills.
  • Making a positive contribution to the development of the School.
  • Be responsible for all KS4 and KS5 Drama, follow the agreed curriculum and prepare students for their external examinations.

Other responsibilities:

  • Actively supporting the ethos of the school and the Head of Department
  • Actively support and adhere to the Child Protection Policy, including attending annual training.
  • Participate in rehearsals after school and weekends when it is necessary
  • Collaborate in Performing Arts Assemblies and Productions

The International School @ ParkCity (ISP), located in the exclusive residential area of Desa ParkCity (www.desaparkcity.com), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, opened in September 2011 and as established itself as a special and dynamic place for children to learn. ISP offers schooling for 3-18 year olds, with intake from Nursery to A-Levels.
