Required for September 2018, a well-qualified and enthusiastic trained Drama Teacher to teach up to at least GCSE in our highly successful and expanding Drama Department. This is a full-time position.
There are currently 4 members of the Drama Department who teach in The Ship Theatre, Drama Studio and adjacent Drama rooms.
All girls in Years 7 – 9 have weekly double Drama lessons and each year there is an excellent uptake at both GCSE and A Level. Approximately two thirds of girls in school also take Trinity Speech and Drama lessons, achieving superb results. We are the largest cohort of Trinity Drama in the country and have recently included a Musical Theatre option as well as Acting.
Many of our students have gained places with the National Youth Theatre and each year several go on to study Further Education at Drama Schools or take Drama at University level. In 2017 we achieved 100% at Grade A and A* at A Level.
The school offers Drama Scholarships at 13+ and the subject enjoys an enviable profile and reputation in the school and wider community.
Extra-curricular Drama is extremely well-supported and of an exceptionally high standard. There is a major school production each November, for which all drama staff are involved, plus a Lower School production in the Spring term.
There are numerous examined plays throughout the year and a Year 7 play in the Summer Term.
This post would suit someone who can work creatively and collaboratively in a well-supported and dynamic setting where expectations and standards are extremely high.
Walthamstow Hall is a selective, academic, day school for girls in the heart of Sevenoaks. It was founded in 1838 as an inter-denominational boarding school for the daughters of Christian missionaries and retains its broadly Christian ethos. It has always been an aim of the school to promote an intelligent understanding of the Christian faith and the school welcomes girls of all faiths. The school enjoys a fine setting with extensive views of the North Downs and Weald. Our friendly and talented staff are at the heart of our success.
The School has a new state-of-the-Art £5m+ Sixth Form Centre, which was opened in December 2017. There is regular capital investment in ICT development and there is a clear commitment to the professional development of all staff. Facilities were described as ‘outstanding’ in the recent inspection.
