Job overview

Cathedral Academy

Drama Teacher

MPR/UPR

Cathedral Academy has recently joined Trinity Multi-Academy Trust, in February 2018. The flagship academy, Trinity Academy Halifax is a model of excellence for the growing number of academies and free schools joining the trust. The team behind the success at Trinity are working with leaders at Cathedral to replicate their successes in improving the outcomes for children and young people.

The academy has a new leadership team in place, who have embedded robust, clear systems and support to ensure that teachers can focus on developing their teaching.  Cathedral have been working with Trinity trust since September 2016 and leaders have led improvements through implementing systems, which are based on world class, proven systems and focussed leadership.

Our results from 2017 demonstrated the impact of this new leadership team and collaborative work with the trust, with improvements in the attainment of six different subject areas including Maths which jumped up by 10%, History improving by 31% and Geography by 17%. These areas added to several other traditionally successful subjects to combine to make progress across the school a major achievement. The subsequent progress 8 score stands at +0.20, showing a vast improvement on the previous year and demonstrating a significant step forward for the academy.

Aspirations and ambitions are high and the potential is huge.  By joining the trust Cathedral staff will access fantastic opportunities, which require the expertise and commitment of dedicated staff.  Key to our continued improvements is quality of teaching.  Across the trust we invest in the professional development of staff and are able to offer comprehensive, regular CPD opportunities for all staff.  This includes cross-trust working.

In addition to professional development, we offer career progression and the opportunity to work on a range of innovative projects. As the trust expands and more schools join, there will be development opportunities to accelerate your career progression and build your leadership skills, whilst contributing to the trust’s vision of improving education for all students.

We are currently looking for a dynamic, passionate and inspirational Drama Teacher, who has excellent subject knowledge and is able to contribute to continued improvements in progress and student attainment.

This role would suit either a newly qualified teacher who is an excellent practitioner, or an experienced practitioner looking for a new challenge.

You must be fully committed to optimising the opportunities that are available to children and young people, secure in the knowledge that you will be joining an ambitious forward-thinking Academy Trust that sets the standards for our family of schools and academies.

Start date: September 2018, or sooner

Closing date: 21 May 2018

Interviews: To be confirmed

Trinity Multi Academy Trust is a Diocesan multi academy trust that is open to schools of all faiths and none. The trust is committed to working within a respectful and compassionate environment and exists to serve the students in its care. We encourage all schools within the trust to celebrate their distinctive identity, whilst actively supporting each other to share best practice and their commitment to continual improvement.

In 2010, when Trinity Academy Halifax (TAH) opened in Calderdale, the plan was to address a decade of underperformance at secondary school level. Since then the academy has been rated as ‘outstanding’ twice. It has also established Trinity Institute of Education (formerly Trinity Teaching School Alliance) and the West Yorkshire Maths Hub, both of which have helped to raise pupil performance in hundreds of schools across the country.

In 2015 Trinity MAT was established. It now contains ten academies covering from nursery stage through to post-16, including two brand new secondary schools which opened in September 2021. The MAT has seen numerous educational changes but one thing has remained constant; we know what works, and so we have formed a group of like-minded schools to make a positive difference on a wider scale.

Our people are key to our continued growth and success. There is a relentless focus on improving standards for all children and young people in our care.  Working within the trust gives all staff the opportunity to work with some of the best practitioners and leaders, regardless of your location.

Our improvement strategies are based on clear systems and support, from our outstanding behaviour systems to regular teacher led CPD sessions, the trust recognises the value of empowering staff through quality weekly CPD, training and support. At the heart of our people strategies are the opportunities for staff at all levels to develop and progress their career.
