Job overview

Are you a fantastic Humanities teacher looking for a new role in a small and growing school?

Southlands International School is  looking to appoint an ambitious and committed teacher to join our small Humanities Department and drive forward our provision. You will be an effective and engaging classroom practitioner who knows how to get the best out of students and enjoys working collaboratively with colleagues. The role will involve designing and implementing a new curriculum for IB Business Management as well as continuing to strengthen our IB Diploma Economics offer (our most popular IBDP subject). You will be a great communicator and passionate about supporting students to understand your subjects in the context of current world events. A strong subject knowledge base is essential.

Southlands International School is set on a spacious, green site in one of Europe’s most historic cities. With just over  300 students aged 3-18 years, we have a strong commitment to the community we serve and we are passionate about the power of small class sizes in achieving both outstanding academic results and meaningful personal growth. The school is at an exciting stage of its development and this position provides an opportunity to develop leadership and teaching skills whilst working with some truly incredible students and colleagues.

As part of the wider Globeducate group, our colleagues are supported through access to a vast professional body of expertise and active collaborative relationships with other international schools. We really value our teachers as professionals and there is great emphasis on allowing teachers the space to deliberately improve their practice through tailored CPD and external, subject-specific training.

If this sounds like the right kind of post for you, then we’d love to hear from you. Interested candidates who value a hardworking and nurturing approach to education should apply via TES and submit their CV and cover letter (1 A4 side max) to Headofseniorschool@southlands.it.

Closing date for applications 12 noon, Friday 5th February2021

We reserve the right to interview  and appoint before the closing date in order to secure an exceptional candidate.

About Southlands British International School

Our School

Established in 1976, Southlands is an outstanding British International School in the south of Rome. We offer a holistic British international education for students aged three to 18 on a spacious rural campus.  Our combination of small classes and dedicated teachers ensure that every one of our students reaches their full potential.

Southlands is proud to be a part of Globeducate, meaning we are able to offer our students opportunities for studying abroad, and taking part in international competitions with other schools in the group. This not only enriches the multi-cultural nature of the educational environment and life experience of our students, but also generates companionship, and reinforces value-systems.

Globeducate

Globeducate has a network of more than 55 schools across three continents, welcoming more than 28,000 students each day. Each institution is dedicated to academic excellence and shaping students to become global citizens of the future.

Like other Globeducate schools, Southlands British International School is committed to the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Within this commitment, we have entered into partnerships with international organisations such as the Eco-schools Project and WWF (World Wildlife Fund), participating in global school projects that involve students, teachers and parents, and bringing together a worldwide community of more than 100,000 people.

These partnerships are a great opportunity for our students, allowing them to interact with students from different countries and cultures to address some of the environmental challenges we face and to gain awareness of how to tackle them. Our aim is to ensure that our students are committed to making the world a better place for everyone to live in, preparing them to embrace the great challenges of our time.
