We would like to recruit a Teacher of Economics and Business from 1st September 2021.  We require a versatile, capable and enthusiastic team player who will support the department’s industry links and enterprise programmes. The successful candidate must have the ability to teach Economics at A-Level and Business Studies at GCSE.

 

The department has a very strong academic record both at GCSE and A-Level and also provides a plethora of extra-curricular activities at all key stages. Students who choose to study Economics or Business are supported through outstanding personal support programmes and regular catch up clubs which everyone in the department helps to run. 

 

Enrichment is at the heart of the department with half termly business breakfasts, participation in share save schemes, guest speakers, Economics Society and regular visits to industry.

 

Economics is a particularly popular subject with a growing number of students taking the subject at A-Level.  Examination results are excellent.  There is a strong ethos of collaborative teaching and learning and providing opportunities for the students outside of the classroom and curriculum is paramount.

The St Marylebone CE School is an all-girls secondary with co-educational sixth form in Westminster, central London. It is affiliated with the Church of England and designated a National Teaching School. Since 2011, St Marylebone has had academy status.

The secondary school is located next to St Marylebone Parish Church and is a short walk from Regent’s Park. The sixth-form facilities are based in nearby Blandford Street. St Marylebone was founded in 1791 and it carries the motto "An opportunity to excel". There are currently around 1,100 students, 300 of whom are in the sixth form.

Students are encouraged to think critically, approaching issues with confidence both as individuals and cooperative members of a team. Teachers use the skills instilled in students to create a cohesive community setting, in which communication and respect are key.

The school has been a specialist arts college since 1998. It has since become a specialist school in mathematics and computing, and in special educational needs. This level of expertise has ensured St Marylebone is a model academic setting.
