Job overview

Forest School is seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher of Economics (with Business) to join the thriving Department of Economics and Business. They will join a cohesive and experienced team of two to teach Economics (with some Business) to Year 12 and 13 A Level pupils, alongside full engagement in wider Forest School life.

The Department’s subjects are highly popular with pupils at Forest: this year there are 84 pupils studying Economics and 14 studying Business. Forest follows the Edexcel specification for Economics and Business, each set is shared by two team members. Economics results are excellent, with an average of 76% obtaining A* to B grades across the last three years.  Business results are pleasing, with 60% achieving A* to B grades in the past three years.

The successful candidate will promote the best possible pedagogy in the classroom and share the department’s passion for inspiring pupils to enjoy Economics and Business and encouraging them to realise their maximum potential in external examinations and beyond. Economics and Management related subjects are the most popular undergraduate degree course of Forest School leavers and the department contributes significant time and expertise towards supporting these pupils with applications, including to Oxbridge. The appointed teacher should continue to inspire and motivate colleagues and pupils alike.

NQT’s and career changers will be considered and, if successful, join an experienced and highly supportive department.
