Job overview

Rossall School is among the most successful and prestigious independent boarding and day schools in the North West with flourishing pupil numbers.

With an enticing and highly aspirational culture, Rossall School is offering opportunities for exceptional educators to come and work with supremely talented, inspiring and compassionate professionals to teach our hard working, ambitious and delightful pupils.

An inspiring, enthusiastic Teacher of Economics is required to join our thriving Business and Economics department. The successful applicant will be a qualified teacher or an ECT and should be able and willing, over time, to teach Economics from KS3 up to A Level standard. Experience of the International Baccalaureate is desirable though not essential. We will also consider applications from current and potential teacher trainees.

Economics and Business are exceptionally popular at the school and this post arises out of a need for the School to expand its provision. There are five teachers within the Economics and Business departments and all teaching takes place in a designated department area. Classrooms are well equipped with good audio visual resources. The subject is well resourced and members of the department work collaboratively to share good practice and track students’ progress.

We offer courses in EDEXCEL A Level Business and AQA A Level Economics. We also offer courses at both Higher and Standard level for the International Baccalaureate in Economics and Business Management. We will be offering BTEC in Business from September 2023. An encouraging number of our Sixth Form students choose to study Economics, Business Management or Finance subjects at university, and each year our year 13 students have an impressive selection of offers from top universities. Students are well prepared for the entrance exams for competitive degree courses, and are encouraged to participate in national competitions such as The John Locke Essay competition or the Royal Economics Society competition.

Further details of the post can be found on the website www.rossall.org.uk

Closing date: Monday 27th March 2023

Early applicants may be offered an interview before the closing date

Rossall School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. An enhanced DBS clearance will be undertaken by the School. The position is regulated activity and therefore exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
