We have developed a seamless progression route for both Apprentices and full time students to gain qualifications and experience from entry to degree level.   


    Maintenance and Mechatronics are key areas of expansion and the successful candidate will work closely with some of the leading employers in the country in sectors such as Aerospace, Food & Drink and the Rail Industry. In addition, we will expect to see work with SMEs to develop qualifications/courses and lead to students and employers developing long term relationships with Derby College.       


Knowledge of Maintenance, Electrical-Mechanical systems and how they relate and perform together is required, as well as practical experience of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, and PLC, having worked within the relevant industry.     


The successful candidate will be required to deliver to Apprentices and fulltime cohorts from Level 2 and above.  The main focus initially will be to develop programs from Level 2 and to prepare students to progress to the next levels of study, personal knowledge and practical abilities; to suit the needs of our employers.

Derby College is a large general further education college with four sites in or near the city of Derby. It supports around 26,000 learners, who choose from more than 1,000 full-time and part-time apprenticeship, A-level, BTEC and NVQ courses.   

Derby College was established as a single institution in 2002 by merging three further education colleges: Mackworth Tertiary College, Wilmorton Tertiary College and Broomfield Agricultural College. A merger between South East Derbyshire College and Derby College was approved in 2010. Heavy investment has been made by the college in its teaching and learning facilities, from the fully equipped teaching kitchens at the Roundhouse campus to the high-tech science labs at the Joseph Wright Centre and the Equestrian Centre at the Broomfield Hall campus.
