We seek a talented teacher to join our strong English department. The start date is negotiable. Part-time or full-time hours will be considered. Our school is driven by our clear moral purpose to every single student and the wider community. It is an above average sized mixed comprehensive school providing a broad and balanced curriculum through Key Stage 3, 4 and 5. Every student studies at least the full set of English Baccalaureate subjects, including at least one language, both humanities, Religious Studies, Physical Education and SMSC up to Year 9 while ensuring appropriate options are given in year 8 and refined in year 9 in preparation for Key Stage 4.
Our proportion of Pupil Premium Students is significantly higher than national at 33% and increasing with each new cohort. The proportion of students from a minority ethnic background is low in comparison to national statistics and the proportion of students whose first language is not English is broadly in line with national at 10%. The proportion of students receiving SEN support is higher than national levels at approximately 20% with levels of EHPC lower than expected. The school deprivation indicator is higher than national.
LCHS has recently been judged as Good overall and in all Areas, (March 2018). The progress 8 score in 2017 was 0.04 and in 2018 was -0.34. The Value added in 6th form is positive with outcomes at their highest point than at any other time in the school's history.
Together, our core purpose is to ensure all of our students leave us as caring and compassionate young adults who have a clear pathway to their personal success pathway. We will do this by offering a well-rounded provision which both supports a broad academic excellence but also helps each one to develop and understanding of mutual respect and tolerance.
