Job overview

Ruthin School is a co-educational, independent boarding school for around 330 pupils aged between 11 and 19. Owing to our sustained academic success, pupil numbers are continuing to expand and we are seeking to recruit an additional Teacher of English as an Acquired Language.

Ruthin School is situated near the beautiful Clwydian Range in Denbighshire, North Wales, and is one of the oldest public schools in the United Kingdom. The school focuses on academic excellence and has a strong family and pastoral ethos. Ruthin School is currently ranked 12th in The Times 2016 A Level League Table and 4th out of all coeducational boarding schools – www.best-schools.co.uk.

Applications are invited to join an enthusiastic and successful department. The post will consist of teaching EAL classes to pupils preparing for entry to top UK and USA Universities as well as teaching EAL to younger pupils aged 11-16.

We are looking for a well-qualified (a good degree from a reputable university and DELTA/Dip TESOL – PGCE/QTS not required), experienced graduate who is able to teach highly motivated, academically talented pupils. There are currently 186 pupils in our Sixth Form.

The School is investing in facilities to address the recent increase in pupil numbers.

Please download an application pack from the School’s website www.ruthinschool.co.uk/jobs.

Further information can be obtained from Mrs Sian Williams, PA to the Principal, (registrar@ruthinschool.co.uk).

Applications should be sent to The Principal by either email (principal@ruthinschool.co.uk) or post.

Applicants should send a covering letter, detailing suitability for the post, along with a completed application form.

Closing date for applications is Monday 15th May 2017.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. A disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service will be requested in the event of a successful application for employment.
