St. Michael’s Catholic Academy and the Directors of Carmel Education Trust wish to appoint a passionate, talented and ambitious teacher of English to cover a maternity leave. The role may appeal to newly qualified or more experienced teachers looking to develop their career in a school which is totally committed to providing excellence in the provision of English.  

We are seeking to appoint a candidate who will strengthen our successful English department where in 2017 87% of all students achieved 9-4 in English and 71% achieved 9-5. You will be joining a school where excellent results were achieved in 2017 with 71% of all students achieving 9-4 in English and Maths. We have recently moved into a brand new state-of-the-art school building greatly enhancing the facilities we provide for our students. 

In 2017 we were inspected by Ofsted and were judged as ‘Good’. 

We wish to appoint a teacher who is: 

· Passionate in providing the best possible holistic education for all students.  

· Committed to maximising achievement through excellence in teaching and learning.  

· Dedicated to contributing to the development of our English department at a very exciting time. 

· Able to commit to a shared understanding and promotion of the school's Catholic/Christian ethos.

About St Michael's Catholic Academy

St Michael’s Catholic Academy was established as a state secondary in 1964 in Billingham, County Durham. It became part of Carmel Education Trust in 2013, along with a number of other local Catholic schools. 

Currently, the co-educational secondary caters for more than 800 pupils aged 11-16. St Michael’s intends to move to a larger, more modern site in the near future.
