Contract type: Full Time

At Witton Park, our guiding principles are simple yet powerful:

● Children come first; they are at the heart of all we do

● Positive relationships underpin all of our work

● High expectations and no barriers – everybody can achieve.

If our principles resonate with you, and you are seeking a new challenge, we’d be delighted to receive your application for the vacancy that has arisen in our highly successful English department. We are looking for an outstanding classroom practitioner to take-up the post as Teacher of English within our strong and committed team.

This role requires an energetic and dedicated individual, who can make a significant contribution to our school community by engaging and enthusing students to achieve their very best in English. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate impact on student progress, have excellent subject knowledge, be confident teaching KS3 & KS4 and be well-informed on current educational developments and initiatives. The role will also include a small responsibility for some teaching of KS3 drama.

You should be an ambitious and dedicated professional who is able to work effectively as part of a team.  A willingness to promote extra-curricular activities and support learning outside the classroom will also be required.

You would be joining a team of colleagues who are passionate about ensuring that all pupils enjoy the subject and are focused on securing the best outcomes for our students. We work collaboratively to share good practice, both within the department, across the school as a whole, and as a multi academy trust. Being a BSF and Google accredited school, we are very well-resourced with Promethean whiteboards and Chromebooks, with lessons being taught in modern, spacious classrooms.

The mission statement for English is:  ‘To promote an enjoyment of English by developing skills through life lessons, which enhance cultural capital for a life beyond the classroom.’

We are looking for someone who can continue the great results already achieved by the hard work and dedication of pupils and staff and someone with an excellent track record of leading excellence and innovation within a department.  Our English curriculum offer is based around some key principles:  to  promote and teach students about the power of vocabulary – written and spoken , to break mindset poverty, to have empathy and morality by widening perspectives in order to make rational and informed judgements and to provide stimulating and enriching life lessons and cultural capital by building an awareness of, and opinions on, societal issues. If this curriculum offer sounds like something you could enhance or contribute to we would welcome your application.

At Witton Park, we are looking for someone who can continue the great results already achieved by the hard work and dedication of pupils and staff in this department. Having secured 76% 9-4 (2019/20), a great deal of our work at KS4 is enhanced by the two members of staff who have current examiner experience with AQA.

The diverse curriculum offered at Witton Park supports a high uptake for EBacc and option subjects. Outcomes for pupils in 2016 were judged to be good by Ofsted. The Ofsted report and website will give you a flavour for other aspects of the school.

If you are interested in joining our friendly and forward-thinking team, and you have the skills and qualities required, then we would be delighted to hear from you.

Please take the time to view our new website at https://witton.atctrust.org.uk/ prior to applying.

Closing date for applications 9.00am on Friday 6th November 2020

Welcome to Witton Park Academy

Innovating… Engaging… Caring… Learning… Succeeding Together.
With pride and passion we unite our school and our local community, and lead the drive to be ‘always learning’.

We are extremely proud of our school; the achievements of our pupils, the expertise and dedication of our staff, our outstanding facilities and our reputation as a centre of excellence.

Our ultra-modern school buildings allow our pupils to flourish in facilities for learning that truly do enable us to trail blaze innovative learning – from the bright and attractive classrooms, to the fully equipped outside play areas, the facilities allow our pupils to fully explore their talents and to shine in those areas that they most enjoy.

A building, however, is only as good as the people working within; we believe we have some of the best students and teachers in the world.  Staff and pupils benefit from the investment we place on their development: as well as playing a key part in supporting other schools through the Achievement through Collaboration Trust, we have a variety of external partners from Google, The Schools, Students and Teacher Network and with University College London. Partnerships like these create opportunities for all members of our team.

We understand how important choosing the right school is and so, on behalf of our pupils and staff, we warmly invite you to visit our school and experience for yourself the quality of education we offer.
