Balerno High School is a six year comprehensive which serves the districts of Balerno, Ratho and Kirknewton. The school has close liaison with the associated primaries in each of these communities. We are supported by an active Parent Council and Parent Teacher Association.

 

The roll for session 2019-2020 is 760 pupils in years S1 to S6. Around twenty five percent of our pupils are enrolled as placing requests from outwith the catchment. Our school has an excellent academic reputation and a vibrant extra curricular and enrichment programme.

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled teacher with drive and ambition who is committed to improvement and excellence. You will be joining a high achieving and successful department and other teams of staff who are dedicated to providing the best for all young people. You should be committed to further raising the attainment and achievement of all our pupils and be able to demonstrate an active interest in current educational developments.

 

In addition the successful candidate will be encouraged to contribute to the wider life of the school.

 

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

 

This post is considered regulated work with vulnerable children and/or Protected Adults under the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by City of Edinburgh Council.
