Required with effect from 1st September 2016, an English teacher with experience of successfully enabling children and young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties to fulfil their potential.

To be successful, you will have the ability to build excellent relationships with school staff, parents and professionals from other agencies, have high expectations of students, and have resilience in managing the significant demands of working with the most challenging students in our schools.

You should be confident in the use of target setting, monitoring and assessment procedures that are an integral part of a professional approach to behaviour management. An understanding and awareness of personal and social skills work is also desirable.

About Les Voies School
Les Voies School is a specialist educational provision for students with significant social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, many of whom have involvement from other agencies, such as Child and Adolescent Mental Health services (CAMHS), Social Services and the Child, Youth and Community Tribunal.

The aim is to ensure that as a school the needs of students with SEBD are met and they have opportunities commensurate with their peers and be equipped to become successful learners effective contributors, confident individuals and responsible citizens.

The organisational arrangement for teaching may vary but will generally be in small group settings supported by a Teaching Assistant. All teachers are required to undertake the role of pastoral tutor for a group of named students.

This post carries a 15 year housing licence. If appointed, you can expect to:

  • Work in a well-resourced school that follows an innovative Bailiwick curriculum based on the English National Curriculum and which has favourable PTRs;
  • Be part of a leading development of ICT in education and be allocated a personal laptop;
  • Receive a generous relocation package to the island, including rent allowance;
  • Enjoy the benefits of more generous tax allowances on an island with no VAT.

Salary will be in accordance with the Main Pay Scale of £28,534 - £40,972 per annum. There is also an Upper Pay Scale of £43,271 - £46,024 per annum for teachers who have successfully gone through the Threshold Assessment, plus a Special Schools Allowance of £2,975 per annum.
