Charles Read Academy is a smaller than average secondary academy situated between the market towns of Stamford, Grantham and Bourne. In 2017 Charles Read was judged as ‘Good’ by Ofsted and it consistently achieves progress of students higher than the national average. As part of the David Ross Education Trust there are opportunities to work with colleagues from 34 academies nationally, and there are career opportunities through the Trust Teaching School Alliance. The successful candidate would initially teach English, Geography and RE to Key Stage 3 although the opportunity for Key Stage 4 could be developed for a suitable candidate. This role may not need to be full time and this should be discussed prior to application. The role may be suitable for a candidate who has previously worked in Primary Education.

Who we are looking for

· Relevant Degree or Industry experience.

· Good understanding of effective teaching methods that secure excellent student progress.

· The ability to interest, inspire, challenge and motivate students to achieve above and beyond their potential.

· Good communication skills and the ability to work in a small team and independently.

· Sound knowledge of progression within English.

· A good understanding of the elements of a Good or Outstanding teaching.

· The ability to use ICT.

· A commitment to raising standards and succeed for all.

· An enjoyment of working with young people.

· Relevant teaching experience or teaching practice.

· Experience of working with a wide range of students and abilities.

"The school has benefited very significantly from support from a sponsor trust. The trust has made a strong contribution to improving the school’s facilities, strengthening its leadership and improving the quality of teaching. Pupils’ achievement has improved since the last inspection, especially in English, mathematics and science. Pupils made good progress in these subjects last year. Middle-attaining pupils did particularly well. Some pupils made excellent progress. The school’s arrangements to safeguard pupils are strong. Pupils feel safe and know how to stay safe."
