Job overview

We encourage you to read our website very carefully and familiarise yourself with our 2014 Ofsted report, our prospectus, candidate information pack and application form for the post. What will be clear to you is that you are applying to an extremely successful school and one with a decidedly clear ethos of achievement. We moved, in November 2012, into a brand new £80 million school. The school became an Academy in September 2013 and was recognised by the Department for Education as a Teaching School in 2015. In 2017, the school’s results profile placed it in the top 5% of schools nationally for the sixth consecutive year. The school is committed to developing its teachers and to fostering the development of outstanding teaching. The school is a personalised community which is committed to creating careers for people. It is experienced in supporting NQTs and indeed enjoys this aspect of staff development but it has had equal success in fostering the careers of colleagues who join having taught in other schools or have had other careers.

Teachers provide outstanding English teaching; much is driven, accomplished and dynamic. English boasts pride of place in our curriculum, and students receive generous teaching time across the age range in the subject. The result of talented teaching and the school’s investment in the subject’s value is its outstanding academic achievement. The subject is supported by creative, intellectually driven and enthusiastic teachers and weekly opportunities for shared practice and professional dialogue have inculcated a culture of the highest of standards. There are generous resources and all teachers have their own classroom which benefits from a range of interactive technology and brand new teaching resources. English colleagues benefit from the participation in the Prince’s Teaching Institute. English is popular with students and there are several A-level teaching groups. We are looking to appoint a colleague who is determined to contribute to an ethos of the highest standards and who, in addition to developing the accuracy and clarity of all students’ language, is determined to elevate the style and diction of our most able students to a register that is scholarly, elegant and boasts of sophistication.

An application form that should be completed electronically is available from the school’s website: http://www.hollandparkschool.co.uk/vacancies/train-and-teach-with-us. Early application is encouraged as we will seek to interview and appoint on receipt. The closing date for applications is Tuesday 19th March 2018.
