This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, passionate teacher of English to join a forward-thinking and innovative team in this 11-16 Academy.
About the school:
Ortu Hassenbrook Academy is a harmonious small school whose roll is beginning to expand. In September 2016 the school joined the Ortu Trust which is made up of Ortu Corringham Primary School and Ortu Gable Hall School. This means that staff have opportunities at KS5.
We are on a rapid improvement journey. G.C.S.E results for 2018 has seen English Grade 9-4 improve by 37% , grade 5+ up by 13%, Maths grades 9-4 up by 9% and grade 5+ up by 18% over the last 2yrs.
Ofsted June 2016 said:
‘The vision for school improvement is clear’. ‘The culture and ethos within the school are rooted in high expectations of staff and pupil performance.’
The school boasts a really positive and supportive relationship between colleagues, and between staff and pupils. Joanne Williams, our Headteacher, encourages teachers to have an impact both in and beyond their subject and she is always available and happy to discuss ideas with you as to how this can be achieved.
Here is why you should work at Ortu Hassenbrook:
Ortu Hassenbrook staff work hard. They will inspire and challenge you but, in turn, they will welcome the ideas you bring for departmental and school improvement.
We are committed to developing staff both professionally and personally and you will find managers responsive to your opinions as to how this can best be achieved. We have a range of high quality CPD both in house and through the Trust. Other benefits for all staff will include cycle to work and childcare voucher schemes. Of course, we know that you enjoy working with young people and want to make a difference to their lives.
All our staff try to run at least one extra-curricular activity. Sports, drama, music, art, community action, public speaking and enterprise. We want outdoor education and Duke of Edinburgh Award programmes to also become strengths of the school.
We could say a lot more but we think the best way for you to get a feel for what it would be like to work for Ortu Hassenbrook is to pay us a visit. Alison Harrold, PA to the Headteacher, would be happy to arrange for you to talk to students and staff so do give her a call on 01375 671566.
