We are looking for:

- an excellent teacher who believes every child has the potential to succeed in English through developing teaching and learning that challenges and inspires young people

- someone who can teach English at KS3 and both English Language and English Literature at KS4 to a range of abilities

- someone who is willing to contribute to the wider life the department.

Essential: Teaching qualification with Qualified Teacher Status in Secondary English, good degree in English or equivalent, an excellent classroom practitioner with a proven record of success, experience of teaching English at KS3 and KS4, experience and evidence of impacting pupil achievement through all pupils making good or better progress, with evidence of intervention strategies employed, experience and evidence of using robust tracking systems with the ability to use and interpret.

Longridge High School is a mixed, comprehensive, Church of England secondary school without sixth form situated in the town of Longridge in central Lancashire. It is a community state school under the Diocese of Blackburn. A smaller than average size for a secondary school, the school will provide 825 places for secondary school students between the ages of 11-16 when fully subscribed.

It is a close-knit and supportive school with a positive atmosphere and strongly welcoming ethos. There is a constant focus on community, with students, teachers and parents all being an essential part of the Longridge learning experience. A broad and balanced curriculum is backed up by a wide range of extra-curricular activities, from the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and global citizenship clubs through to chess and modern foreign language groups.

The school has a specialism in maths in computing, and is sometimes known by the name Longridge High School – A Maths and Computing College.
