European School, Luxembourg II was created in 2004 to deal with the overcrowding of its original counterpart. The school underwent construction in 2009 and the new campus was revealed in 2012. Visions and value

The school aims to teach its students to be respectful of everyone’s different beliefs, cultures and values and to become responsible global citizens. The school promotes its three main aspects to its values: to understand the aspirations of all in the common interest, to remain open, transparent and to have a sense of responsibility and to valorise the school’s multiculturalism and multilingualism.

The curriculum uses the European Baccalaureate which prioritises both linguistic and scientific competencies. Technical training subjects aren’t included in the curriculum but safety and well-being lessons, such as the KIVA and peer meditation program, are integrated into the pupils’ school life. Elective subjects include foreign languages, religion or morals and ethics classes.

Teachers must be a native English speaker or have the ability to speak at mother tongue level. Knowledge of a second working language, either French or German, is an added asset. Every teacher needs to have a university degree and be able to teach their subjects at all levels for a secondary school. The school prides itself on hiring teachers who can work in an international environment and work well with a variety of team members. Every teacher should expect to have about 20 weekly 45-minute classes.
