Job overview

Teacher of English

Start Date: January 2017 Contract Type: Full Time Contract Term: Maternity cover (until at least 31st August)                               Salary: MPS/UPS

Lymm High School is a large, high-performing 11-18 school with exceptional resources, including 28 acres of beautiful grounds, a swimming pool, leisure complex and our own residential centre in Anglesey.

A very good and well-established school already, we have made rapid progress over the past two years and have no intention of resting on our laurels. The potential here is immense.  English is a very popular and successful subject in the school, with large numbers choosing it for A’ level every year. Last summer, 88% gained 9-4 grades and 24% 9-7 grades at GCSE. We have plenty of reason to believe these results are going to continue to improve.

This post would suit an NQT equally as well as someone who has already been teaching for a few years. We are as interested in your potential and determination to become a first class practitioner as we are in your experience to date. Please see the linked documents or our website for further details, including an application form. We will guarantee the maternity cover until at least 31st August and, in all likelihood, it will be for longer than this.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this legal requirement. The successful applicant's appointment will be subject to satisfactory pre-employment clearances including a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

For further details and an application form please visit:  www.lymmhigh.org.uk  Closing date for applications: 9am Monday 30th October 2017 (nb. strong applications submitted in advance of this date may benefit from more notice of arrangements for interview)

Interview Date:  Tuesday 31st October 2017

Application forms should be returned to recruitment@lymmhigh.org.uk Please note that, due to the volume of applications we tend to receive, we will only be able to contact candidates who have been selected for interview.

Headteacher

Mr Gwyn Williams

Values and vision

Lymm High School aims for its students to: be successful and achieve their full potential; enjoy learning and become independent lifelong learners; become socially responsible citizens and members of the community; and become confident and capable individuals.

In order to achieve these aims, the school has three simple, underlying priorities for action: an uncompromising focus on high academic standards and excellent teaching and learning; encouraging participation in a wide-ranging programme of extra-curricular activities and opportunities to develop leadership skill; and promoting the importance of being decent, socially responsible members of the community

Ofsted report (February 2018)

“Pupils feel safe and secure in a school that is characterised by harmonious relationships. There are strong relationships between adults and pupils alike. Teachers have high hopes for pupils and expect the very best from them. This is a school where everyone is accepted for their individuality and uniqueness. It is a school that aims to ensure that inclusivity and scholastic ambition intertwine seamlessly.

Pupils are extremely positive about their learning experiences…. (they) also benefit from an extensive extra-curricular programme and strong spiritual, moral, social and cultural development (and) recognise that their teachers and other adults go ‘the extra mile’ for each of them. For these reasons, pupils reciprocate the care, guidance and support that they receive with extremely high standards of behaviour. They are an absolute credit to the school.”
