For September 2018 we are looking to appoint an innovative and committed Teacher of English to KS4.
We expect you to have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills and a proven track record of delivering good and outstanding lessons You should be ambitious, driven and creative with a commitment to raising attainment at all levels, together with the ability to inspire students. This post would suit a NQT.
We are looking to appoint a well-qualified Teacher who is willing to contribute fully to the life of the school and who is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Highfields has approximately 1200 students, including 250 at post 16, they are well-motivated and achieve good results. We were judged as a good school by Ofsted in May 2017. Highfields is situated in Matlock, the county town of Derbyshire, on the south eastern edge of the beautiful Peak District National Park. It is within easy reach of Sheffield, Derby and Nottingham.
Due to this post having access to children and/or vulnerable adults, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check. About Highfields School
Highfields School is a vibrant, popular, mixed, non-denominational, mainstream secondary school in Matlock, Derbyshire. It caters to students aged 11 to 18 and has approximately 1,200 students including 250 at post 16. Our students are well-motivated and achieve good results. Highfields School was founded in 1982 when Ernest Bailey’s Grammar School and Charles White Secondary Modern School merged. It is known for performing arts. The school is located on two sites that are 1.8 miles apart: one for the lower school (Years 7-8) and one for the upper school (Years 9-11 and the sixth form).

Highfields School’s main aim is to provide a happy, caring environment that helps each pupil to reach their full potential. It seeks to challenge every student and ensure they become lifelong learners. Teachers encourage students to become active citizens in their community.
The secondary school specialises in performing arts, but offers a broad and balanced curriculum that covers core subjects such as English, maths, science, philosophy and RE, and PE. Extra-curricular activities are also considered important and a wide variety of clubs and teams explore arts and sports.
