Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional teacher to join our team at Jane Austen College. If you are an excellent classroom practitioner, who is flexible, highly committed and passionate about delivering the best possible learning experiences, then we want to hear from you.

We are looking for an individual with the capacity to be both an outstanding teacher and an enthusiastic and dynamic member of a successful team.

This post is a particularly key appointment due to the college’s relatively early stage of development; the successful candidate will have the opportunity to support the Head of Faculty in curriculum development and play an important role in creating a faculty that achieves the best possible outcomes for its students and aims to set the standard nationally.

We welcome applications from NQTs as well as more experienced staff. The ability to teach English Literature and/or English Language at A Level is desirable but not essential. We would consider applications from candidates interested in part-time posts.

Jane Austen College is an 11-19 secondary free school which opened in September 2014. We currently have years 7, 8, 12 and 13 within the school and look forward to welcoming new year groups and starting to deliver Key Stage 4 in September. Growing gradually is allowing us to create an exceptional school, with the highest of standards. We are an English specialist school, with an additional post 16 specialism in Humanities and the Arts. We are also partnered with the Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form –the region’s first maths and science specialist sixth form.

As part of the Inspiration Trust, we offer high quality, personalised professional development, in addition to excellent career development opportunities. At Jane Austen College, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills as a teacher and also develop your career, in a supportive and stimulating environment.
