Teacher of English

Full Time

Required from the 1 September 2021

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspirational subject specialist with a love of language and literature to teach English across the age and ability range.  This post is suitable for either an experienced practitioner or a newly qualified colleague.  We welcome applications from those without prior A level experience, but with knowledge and ability to learn quickly. Knowledge of or experience in teaching accelerated literacy development at Key Stage 3 would also be highly desirable.

Candidates must be passionate about teaching: committed to improving the learning outcomes of all pupils; able to demonstrate the ability to deliver high quality teaching and inspire and motivate young people to achieve outstanding outcomes.

We believe in educating young people not only for their academic success, but to be powerful citizens. English is at the heart of this and our pupils are passionate about the written and spoken word. We teach challenging texts in mixed ability sets and believe in the power of developing our pupils’ cultural capital alongside their reading and writing skills.

The successful candidate will be joining a creative and dedicated team characterised by high support, high challenge and a willingness to develop as professionals through sharing good practice with one another.  The English Faculty foster a pro-active culture of collaboration and reflective practice that has pupils’ well-being and success at its heart.

St Katherine’s is a dynamic, aspirational school situated on the edge of Bristol in a beautiful rural setting.  Our thriving, diverse community is founded on our core values of respect, responsibility and resilience; we actively encourage everyone within our community to ‘live and breathe’ our values every day. The school aims to create an environment where pupils feel confident, secure and valued to help them perform at their best.

We were delighted to join Cathedral Schools Trust (CST) in January 2019 and this partnership is continuing to have a very positive impact on our school.

This is an exciting time for the school and we are looking for applicants with a passion for young people to drive their success even further. In return, you can expect effective support and challenge from our strong leadership team along with a hardworking, talented and passionate staff body. We are committed to professional development and there is considerable opportunity for career development both within the school and across the Cathedral Schools Trust. If you would like to find out more about the school please visit the school website.

If you can demonstrate that you possess the necessary experience, knowledge, qualifications and skills and aspire to our vision and values, we would like to hear from you.
