All students take English Literature and English Language at GCSE and many go on to study English Literature or English Language & Literature at A-Level. The English team has an established track record of achieving excellent outcomes for students, in line with whole-school results that demonstrate that students get an excellent education at The Kimberley School.

This is an opportunity to join our outstanding, high performing, English Team.  We are looking for someone who can teach English at Key Stage 3 and GCSE, there may be opportunities for candidates with suitable experience to teach A-Level in our highly successful Sixth Form.  The ability to teach Drama at Key Stage 3 would be advantageous. This post is suitable for experienced candidates who are looking to work with an outstanding team; or for teachers who have more recently qualified.   As a lead partner in the East Midlands Teacher Training Partnership, and an early adopter of the Early Career Framework, we are well placed to support teachers at the start of their career.

If you have a passion for teaching English, then we want to hear from you. You will be part of English Faculty and you will be working with a team of professionals who have an excellent track record of success and focus relentlessly on ensuring that students enjoy learning and make outstanding progress. As part of East Midlands Education Trust there will also be the opportunity for you to learn from the very best and prepare you for the next stage of your career.

Applications must be made on an EMET application form which you can download from the East Midlands Education Trust website https://www.emet.uk.com/vacancies

On the application form, please focus on a detailed 'supporting statement' taking into account the person specification and indicating why you would be the best person for us to recruit to this position. In your answer, please ensure to set out the following:

  • how your experience and qualifications have prepared you for this position; and
  • the steps you will take to ensure that the students you teach enjoy learning and make good progress;
  • the nature of the contract you are looking for (i.e. part time or maternity)

Values and vision

The Kimberley School focuses on delivering strong academic results. It is a tolerant and welcoming place of learning that promotes traditional values, a sense of belonging and good student behaviour.

There have been a number of developments for school facilities over the years, most notably the introduction of a design and technology building in 2002, and an arts block with drama studio and media studies room in 2005. There are also high-quality facilities for sport, with playing fields, hockey pitches and a large leisure centre on-site.

Ofsted report

“Governors have a good understanding of the school’s performance and they drive improvement by challenging leaders strongly. The quality of teaching is improving because leaders have introduced good strategies to support it. Reading is being promoted well throughout the school [and] students feel safe in school.”
