Teacher of English (Full-Time or Part-Time)

Situated on a spacious, leafy campus with impressive facilities, SJI International High School is an independent coeducational Lasallian Catholic day school. Currently in its eleventh year, the school has grown steadily and enjoys an outstanding reputation for quality education in Singapore. The school follows a Southern Hemisphere academic year (January to December). The student body numbers some 1040 students (aged 12 - 18), with 390 IB Diploma students in Grades 11 and 12. Academic standards are very high. The average IB Diploma score for our most recent cohort of students was 37.2 points (in 2016), with 32.4% of our students achieving 40 points or more (a record for the school). Our most recent A*/A pass rate at IGCSE was 68% (34% at A*).

Teacher of English (Full-Time or Part-Time)

English Language and Literature are both highly regarded at SJI International, with a number of our former students now studying either Literature or Linguistics at university. All students are required to take English Language and Literature up to IGCSE level, and have the choice to opt for either Literature, or Language and Literature, at IB level. We seek to appoint a teacher who is able to teach across the age range, and can offer expertise in all areas. It would be desirable for applicants to have had experience of teaching both Literature, and Language and Literature, at advanced level. This role could either be full-time of 0.85 part-time (only available for those ordinarily resident in Singapore), depending on the candidates preference. Please visit our website for more details.

Additional Requirements

For all teaching posts the successful candidates will have a good first degree in their teaching specialism, a recognised teaching qualification and a proven track record as inspirational teachers (all required to obtain a Singapore teaching licence). The ability to teach across the age and ability range from Grade 7 (12 year-olds) to IB Diploma level is preferred unless a middle school / IB Diploma specialism is specifically stated. Significant training and development opportunities are available for teachers (both in-house and through external providers) and the desire to take part in and contribute to collaborative school and personal development is essential.
