An inspirational and suitably qualified teacher of English is required to join this very successful department from September 2020. The successful applicant will be a qualified teacher with either a specialist or English-related degree.

At KS4 English forms part of the core curriculum, where pupils study both AQA English Language and Literature. English remains a very popular A Level option and pupils benefit from a fantastic programme of enrichment to further enhance and support teaching. In 2019, 65% of pupils achieved an A*-B grade at A Level with many pupils going on to study English at University.

The role would suit a recently qualified teacher, or someone with more classroom experience who would enjoy the challenge of joining a dynamic and successful department. There may also be the possibility to combine this position with a Resident Tutor position in the school.

ISI report

“Relationships between staff and between pupils themselves are appropriate, and in their questionnaire responses the vast majority of boarders agree that they get on well together and feel safe in their boarding house. Staff are dedicated to the welfare of all pupils and provide a suitable structure for them to develop and thrive. Pastoral policies and procedures are effective and good behaviour is promoted.”
