Job overview

Teacher of English

British West Indies Collegiate is a private, co-educational secondary school in Providenciales, Turks & Caicos Islands, whose teaching and learning is based on a UK curriculum. It is a small, intimate, and friendly school (182 on roll) with a strong academic record, and one that encourages children to fulfil their potential, both inside and outside the classroom. Two of our students have been recognised as Top in the World in Cambridge AS Mathematics and Chemistry.

The school is seeking to appoint, full-time, a teacher of English. The appointees will be able to take up post in September.

Applicants will be B Ed, PGCE (Secondary) or similarly qualified subject specialists, experienced teaching to Cambridge IGCSE and A-level syllabi. Prospective staff should have a striking extra-curricular background, and be able and willing to contribute to the stimulating enrichment programme offered after school and occasionally at weekends.

While the TCI is an idyllic British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean, only a 90-minute flight from Florida, and whose beaches are often voted best in the world, candidates should be familiar with and accepting of the challenges, as well as the rewards, of island life. The TCI is high on the Cost of Living Index; as such, the post might be best suited to a single person travelling without a partner or dependents.

What we offer:

Initial, renewable, two–year contract, to be detailed at interview, includes:

  • Generous relocation allowance
  • Reimbursement of appointment costs (e.g. medical, notarisation, work permit)
  • Annual return flight
  • Competitive tax-free salary paid in US dollars
  • Annual 10% bonus from end of third year
  • Private medical insurance

How to apply:

Please consult the school website (www.bwic.tc) and e-mail your CV (including photograph), Letter of Application, and completed BWIC Application Form to the Principal, Ms Laura Kuzenko, at principal@bwic.tc

Closing date Wednesday, April 10, 2024.

The school reserves the right to consider applications as they are received, and may interview candidates prior to this date. Immediate applications are therefore encouraged.
