ABOUT US

Inspire Growth; Reap Success.

The Littlehampton Academy is an exciting, vibrant community where every individual is valued and expected to excel.  Our mission is to inspire young people to develop a love for learning that will allow them to grow and flourish as they move through the school.  Our students join us as children, but we aim to ensure that they leave our doors as accomplished young men and women, confident in their own abilities and ready to realise their aspirations in the world.
Our guiding principle is to put students at the heart of everything we do; we achieve this by promoting our shared values of Respect, Explore, Aspire, Persevere. To find out more about our academy and its excellent facilities, please visit our website or come and see us in action.  You will be made most welcome.
M P Thomas BSc(Hons), PGCE(Cantab)
Principal

TLA is a Christian designated academy and we are proud to be part of the Woodard Academies Trust.  We aim to provide a rich and diverse educational environment that welcomes people of all faiths and none, and where every child is 'known and nurtured'.

We have recently come out of special measures.  Committed staff have worked hard to improve results and now, with the benefit of excellent facilities, high expectations and strong leadership we are well on the way to achieving success.  The English Faculty is a team of strong practitioners and we are looking for a dedicated professional to cover for a maternity leave absence. In return you will receive a programme of on-going professional development which has recently been awarded the CPD quality mark.
All our students are set challenging and personalised academic targets.  We expect them to make us proud with their personal conduct: they are excellent ambassadors for the community and have been rightly praised for their courtesy and consideration of others.  We encourage them to be confident, to have self-respect and to strive for success.

The Academy is based on the south coast in West Sussex and opened seven years ago.  We have capacity for 1900 students (Years 7 to 13) and a state of the art building and facilities.

Chosen by the experts from The Times newspaper 'Bricks & Mortar' supplement, Littlehampton has been selected as one of the top 30 best places to live by the sea. Quality beaches, proximity to the South Downs and commutability to key destinations makes this a great place to live.

The English Faculty provides high quality and engaging class teaching in accordance with agreed schemes of learning in all three key stages.  We have invested heavily in a range of texts within the department which gives us maximum curriculum flexibility.  Teachers are accountable for their students’ progress and also contribute to the welfare of students as group tutor.

We would welcome an opportunity to show you our Academy.  Please contact the Principal’s PA on 01903 711120 to arrange a visit.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare all our students and expect all staff to share this commitment.  The successful applicant will be required to provide a disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.  Our child protection policies and recruitment procedures follow local and national guidance.

We do not accept CVs.

Visit our website or our eteach career page for an application form.

Closing Date: Monday 21 November 2016 @ 09:00

We reserve the right to close the vacancy before the closing date so please apply early.
