Job overview
This role is to teach primarily A-level English Literature with a small amount of A-level English Language. This post would be well suited to a Literature specialist who is passionate about their subject and has a desire to teach post 16.
The English department is a successful part of an ambitious College, with highly dedicated and hardworking teachers. We are looking to appoint someone who will become an integral part of this dynamic team and who will contribute to the high quality educational experience of learners.
The English Department consists of a team of six teachers who are all experienced, fully qualified graduates. The department offers A level courses in English Language, English Literature and GCSE English Language (for students re-sitting). There are approximately 400 students studying in the department and achievement is well above the national average with a high proportion of learners progressing to Higher Education. Courses are highly structured and learners consistently praise the lessons for being engaging and interactive.
The department is well resourced with 6 classrooms equipped with a computer, a projector and access to the College network. There is a dedicated computer suite and a number of laptops are also available for learner use.
