Moulsham High School is an inclusive, high performing comprehensive school with a relentless commitment to high achievement for all. Progress 8 has been well above national average for the last 7 years. In 2023 it was in the top 16% of all schools nationally. A level results are consistently ALPS 3 or higher. A level APS in 2023 was in the top 18% of all schools nationally. 

  

We are looking for an experienced English specialist to work with our Assistant Headteacher who leads on our reading strategy support those students whose reading ages are below their chronological ones.  This will include having accountability for the quality of library lessons which all KS3 students have fortnightly.   

 

In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for promoting ‘Reading For Pleasure’ across the school and teach English up to and including G.C.S.E.  A level teaching may also be available.  English is at the heart of our curriculum and one of our named specialisms.  Ofsted 2020 described ‘teachers’ enthusiasm for English’ as ‘infectious.’  

 

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a highly supportive and extremely successful English team whose GCSE results have consistently been significantly above national averages. The department has also enjoyed great success in A-level English Literature, A-level Film Studies, A-level Media Studies, and GCSE Media Studies.
