Nunnery Wood is a popular and over-subscribed High School situated in lovely surroundings in a popular and expanding residential area on the south-eastern edge of Worcester, two miles from the City
centre and one mile from the M5 motorway (Junction 7). It is set in its own grounds of some 25 acres of gardens and playing fields.

We are a friendly and high achieving school – “an outstanding school where students thrive and make exceptional progress” according to Ofsted. We are a school that believes in getting the basics rights and as a result “behaviour is outstanding” (again Ofsted.) We are also an inclusive, innovative school and an exciting place to work or study.

The School serves a mixed catchment area encompassing leafy suburbs, modern housing estates and the local council estate providing a wide academic and social range. A substantial number of students opt to come to Nunnery from other parts of the City and up to 6% of each year group come from the local ethnic minority communities. There are currently around 1350 on roll and demand for places is high, with approximately 100 applications more than places available.

Our students are friendly and eager to learn. They flourish in the purposeful working environment of the School and participate enthusiastically in the extensive extra-curricular programme of activities which is a hallmark of Nunnery Wood.

Our staff are committed to the education of the whole child and give of their time generously both in and outside the classroom. They are open in sharing both their successes and their difficulties and are supportive of one another. The staff development programme is carefully planned, well financed and valued.

We are fortunate to be sited within attractive grounds featuring a variety of mature trees and shrubs shading grassed areas which separate the various buildings. The teaching facilities are first class and include up-to-date computer facilities; specialist provision for Science, Maths, Technology, Music, English and Learning Support.

Our sporting facilities are of outstanding quality - a competition standard athletics track and field event areas, floodlit all-weather pitch, sports centre (including squash courts and fitness centre), gymnasium and games fields are all available on site.

We became a Specialist Science College in September 2004, and have recently been redesignated. We now await designation as a “High Performing Specialist School” and taking on a second specialism.
