ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE at Notre Dame Catholic Sixth Form College

The College is excited to be able to offer Environmental Science for the first time in September 2024 and is looking to recruit a subject specialist who will also be able to offer Biology delivery on the BTEC Applied Science. You will ideally have an experienced background in Biology and be able to apply this to the Environmental Science AQA A Level specification. Environmental Science will be part of the Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Applied Science departments at Notre Dame Catholic Sixth Form College, which are all extremely high performing and collaborative departments, with a track record of achieving Outstanding student outcomes and progression. There will also be support from our Geography department.

Science and Geography departments are lively, dynamic and progressive in terms of their approaches to delivering A levels and Applied Science. There is a friendly and professional atmosphere within the departments and a strong emphasis on encouraging a positive rapport between staff and students in the pursuit of academic success. Within the departments there is a wealth of experience and professional knowledge and an encouragement to undertake CPD. We would welcome applications from recently qualified teachers and ECTS.

All science departments have made major contributions to the academic standing of the College, both locally and nationally, seen in the success of the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge and the Biology Olympiad with many students achieving the Bronze, Silver or Gold award. All departments are progressive in their offer of enrichment for the students, for example the Physics department have recently worked with an external company to build an electric car which they will test drive at the end of the year. There is a thriving Eco Team of staff and students who work across the college promoting sustainability.
