Job overview

About us

Doha College is a high-profile leading British International School, for children aged 3-18, offering a well-balanced, all-embracing curriculum that follows the UK National Curriculum. We are also the first High Performance Learning accredited school in the world. Doha College is opening a brand new pioneering, 90,000m² state-of-the-art campus, which will see us grow to a 10-form primary school, operating across two campuses, and a 10-form secondary school. The new campus opens in September 2020, which will be an exceptionally exciting time for the school, as the year will also mark its 40th anniversary.

The opportunity

We are now looking to appoint an exceptional, experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic Art teacher to start in September 2020. You will be fully versed in visual and graphic arts and have the ability to teach from KS3 to A Level, specialising in Fine Art. The ability to teach Photography and/or KS3 Design Technology is desirable but not essential. You should be able to teach different art techniques to students of all ages, deliver lessons on art history and have a working knowledge in Photoshop. The ideal candidate would be someone who can showcase their own work, while also inspiring their students to take risks, develop their creative skills and build their self-confidence. The ideal candidate would be fluent in the use of technology within the classroom including creative use of the iPad.

The Art and Photography Department consists of 3 full-time teachers and offers a rich program of art education at all levels from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5 leading to GCSE and A Level examinations. At Key Stage 3, the department offers its own teaching programme which is based on the UK curriculum tailored to the needs of an international student body. At Key Stage 4, a two-year linear GCSE course with Edexcel/Pearson is offered. This is also mirrored in the 6th Form where we offer A Level qualifications in Fine Art and Photography. The department is a highly successful and well-established department, regularly securing “best in the world” for its examination students across both GCSE and A Level. To be successful, you will be able to reinforce and enrich the department further with your passion and expertise.

All our classrooms are equipped with interactive smart boards and displays, and all students are furnished with an iPad upon entry.

The department offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities including workshops with local galleries, a weekly art club and monthly photography competitions. We also run biennial international field trips. The department has strong commercial links with the major art institutions operating in Qatar which provides students with ample experience of art in action.
