Job overview

An exciting opportunity for a passionate and enthusiastic teacher to join our Art & Design Faculty.  You will have the skills to engage and motivate students across the age and ability range and advocate the importance of creative subjects within the curriculum.  The faculty encompasses a range of creative disciplines, but your specialism and/or experience will be within Food and Textiles.  A willingness to teach other subject areas within the faculty would be advantageous.

At KS3, students benefit from the opportunity to study a range of specialisms across the faculty: Art, Food, Graphics, Product  Design, Resistant Materials and Textiles.  At KS4, the faculty currently has 16 classes across these disciplines, and the subjects continue to grow in popularity.  At A Level, we have classes in Art, Photography and Product Design.

The role is offered, initially, as a maternity contract.  However, with the continuing growth of the faculty we envisage future opportunities for permanent employment.  The role is offered as full-time but applications from those interested in a part-time position will be considered.

Parmiter’s coordinates CPD for the Watford Partnership for Teacher Training and offers a robust induction programme.  We can offer the successful candidate:

  • July 1st start date for ECTs with a comprehensive programme to support the Early Career Framework and bespoke CPD to suit your career goals.
  • Focus on staff well-being with an online GP service, Employee Assistance Programme & complimentary use of the on-site Fitness Suite
  • An admission policy prioritising the children of staff (a qualifying period may apply)
  • Highly talented and engaged students
  • Lovely school grounds in leafy surrounds with ample parking.

Parmiter’s is an exceptional school and all colleagues share a passion for educational excellence in every area.  Applicants are encouraged to visit the school website and social media accounts for more information.  Candidates are welcome to contact admin@parmiters.herts.sch.uk to arrange a visit to the school or a discussion about the department and the role before application.

Please apply through My New Term by noon on Thursday 18 April.

Parmiter’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all members of staff to share this commitment. The Good Schools Guide

Parmiter's School relocated to the current 60 acre rural Hertfordshire site from London's East End in 1977.  The site is currently undergoing a period of development and has recently opened a new £4m state of the art Science facility. The school enjoys a good reputation for traditional values and academic achievement whilst maintaining a true family feel among staff and students.

Experienced teachers, Early Careers Teachers and support staff benefit from a supportive leadership team who focus on personal development and wellbeing as a priority. Staff benefit from complimentary use of a new Fitness Suite facility.

Parmiter's leads the Watford Partnership for Teacher Training in collaboration with 11 local schools, the University of Hertfordshire and Herts for Learning.

The school is consistently over subscribed for Year 7 and Sixth Form entry.  Children of staff are a priority for admission.
