The Governors of St Thomas More Catholic High are seeking to appoint a dynamic and creative teacher who has the expertise to teach Food Preparation & Nutrition and Textiles across Key Stages 3 and 4.

The Art & Creative Technology Department at St Thomas More Catholic High School achieves excellent results. This is an exciting opportunity for an inspiring teacher to contribute further to an already successful team and build on the high standards and encourage pupils across the age and ability range.  Food Preparation & Nutrition and Textiles provide our pupils with the skills and innovation for the future and are a much-valued element of our broad curriculum.

The successful candidate will be able to deliver an inspiring KS3 Food Preparation & Nutrition curriculum and KS4 GCSE AQA Food Preparation & Nutrition whilst also delivering GCSE AQA Art and Design: Textiles.

The successful teacher will be responsible for delivering high quality teaching with the aim of helping students develop a broad base of skills through practical, investigational, and theoretical work across both Key Stages. You must be able to demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and communicate this in an enthusiastic and imaginative way.

 

We are looking to appoint someone who is confident that they can deliver high quality lessons within a classroom / kitchen environment. We want projects to ensure students are equipped with a wide range of skills as well more modern techniques. Classrooms are well equipped and include a good range of equipment.

 

The Art and Creative Technologies department contains a wealth of subject specialists and a part-time technician. At GCSE we deliver separate specialisms in Fine Art, Textiles, Design Technology, Food & Nutrition, Computer Science and Creative iMedia. The successful candidates must be able to feed into the wider character of our department.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SCHOOL
St. Thomas More High School is a voluntary aided Catholic comprehensive school for boys and girls aged 11 to 16, situated close to the centre of Crewe, in Cheshire. It is smaller than average; at present there are 604 pupils on roll with slightly more boys than girls . Most pupils are drawn from four parishes within the Shrewsbury Diocese, and the school serves a wide, diverse area that includes areas both of social deprivation and relative affluence.
