We are seeking a teacher of Food Technology to join the team. Our Technology team comprises eight teachers and two technicians. The curriculum starts with KS2 tasks that we deliver through transition lessons with our primary feeder schools through to A Level courses in Post 16. Our KS3 students experience all specialist areas targeting progressive design and make skills through a carousel of Food, Electronics, Resistant Materials and Engineering activities and design briefs. At Key Stage 4 students can choose to study from a range of Level 1&2 qualifications including BTEC Engineering, Hospitality and Catering, Motor Vehicles, Resistant Materials and Hair courses. At KS5, we offer Level 3 BTEC Engineering and Level 2 BTEC Hospitality and Catering.  

The faculty is well-resourced with an ICT design suite, laser cutters, CNC routers, metal working lathes, fully equipped and working motor vehicle garage, hair and salons and high specification food rooms.

If you are the person we are looking for, you broad subject knowledge will be underpinned by a passion for the subject and the ability to apply a range of teaching and learning strategies. You will possess the ability to work effectively with all students, engaging them through exciting yet challenging lessons and embedding a culture of positive behaviour for learning. You will possess the ability to promote the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people and take appropriate action when required. And, most importantly, you will be committed to our school ethos of ‘all different, all equal,’ instilling high expectations in all our students.

Kenton School is a mixed, mainstream, non-denominational secondary school in Newcastle upon Tyne. It caters to students aged 11-18 and has 2,010 pupils at full capacity, including 300 in the sixth form.

Kenton School was opened to pupils and staff on 17th March 1961 as a maintained comprehensive school. After 47 years in the original buildings, the school moved into new state-of-the-art premises in 2008.

Kenton School converted to academy status in 2012. In 2014, it formed Kenton Schools Academy Trust. This multi-academy trust opened Studio West, a new studio school, in West Denton in 2014.
