As an 11-19 secondary school serving nearly 1,200 students in central Gateshead, we have some ambitious plans for the future. We have recently joined the Emmanuel Schools Foundation, creating exceptional opportunities for knowledge sharing and career development – and with the renowned Emmanuel College itself just seven minutes away, we have a clear local model for excellence. We are committed to releasing the potential of our students and staff alike, and we have four key priorities for improvement – leadership, curriculum development, teaching and student engagement in extracurricular activities. You will be central to delivering our strategy, as you transform both the school and our students’ futures.
A high level of commitment to achieving excellent standards is a pre-requisite for this post. Essentially, our Languages department seeks extended professionalism from colleagues that are able to motivate students, generate ideas and translate them into effective and enjoyable practice within a warm and encouraging environment.
We expect all applicants to be well qualified, self-motivated, adaptable, imaginative, and keen to join a team that is committed to academic excellence across the full ability range. A particular interest in recent developments in Computing outside of education and an awareness of the current curriculum at all Key Stages and national education initiatives would be an advantage.
Join us and you can expect to be nurtured, supported and encouraged at every step of your career through the Emmanuel College Teaching School. We are committed to investing in you and your career development, with the possibility of working closely with colleagues at Emmanuel College, one-to-one coaching and future opportunities to undertake educational research. In short, we are looking to develop exceptional teachers and school leaders of tomorrow – either here or across the Emmanuel Schools Foundation – so we can take your career anywhere you want to go as this is a school where everyone can shine.
We look forward to hearing from you.
